Trevor Mikula
TREVOR MIKULA(b.Saginaw, Michigan)

Trevor Mikula is a contemporary painter from Nashville, Tennessee. He had a creative childhood full of paint, scribbles and drawings. He has an identical twin and an older brother. The boys were raised sans television ensuring plenty of outdoors adventures and lots of reading. Trevor began attending community college before completing high school. He attended a small design school in Melbourne, Australia before deciding to pursue a degree in Visual Communications. Trevor graduated from Nashville State Technical College in 2001 and began an internship with a graphics company. After a very short period of time, he was waiting tables at a small cafe and happily painting.

Trevor has been showing works in galleries across the US for almost a decade. His works are whimsical and fun with an emphasis on his love of color. The compositions are often times ordinary subjects shown in an unlikely way. His impasto-styled pieces are created by layering paint with a palette knife. Trevor’s paintings are full of energy and exciting to view. They open the viewer’s imagination and bring back a sense of simplicity.
Several of Trevor’s influences are Richard Diebenkorn, Wayne Thiebaud, Wolf Khan and Carolyn Evans.

Trevor is a young man uninhibited by paint. He interprets traditional subjects with a palette knife, vibrant paint, and little regard for conservation. The results are beautiful pieces full of life. Trevor has a very vivid imagination and creates art that can be appreciated by anyone.

"Keep your eye on this artist! He's talented and charming." - Amy Waddell, Nashville Scene
