POP Gallery Introduces Scott Krichau, Sculptor
On Exhibit now

“Objects for Getting Away” series: The works focus on forms that incorporate aspects from nature and devices of movement. The suggestion of growth and travel are important to my work. The relentless drive of nature to reproduce, even when many offspring will not survive. We continually try to succeed, even when the prospects for accomplishment are not great. Our chance for success makes the risk of failure worthwhile.

These works are further developed than previous ones. The new generations have evolved and now utilize manufactured wheels and a small sphere as the power source. They still play on previous works with their simple seed appearance and need to move, but now prepare to zoom around the gallery efficiently.

Creating organic forms with manufactured materials is one of the foundations of my work. Taking a lifeless material and giving life back into it. The process involves cutting sheet steel, hammering the parts, welding them together, and finally grinding the welds away. This creates a seamless rounded object from flat sheets of steel.
