D. Gunther-Brown
Philosophy

Artists record life as they see and feel it: in visual art they interpret mood, dissonance or harmony with texture, color and line.

Donna Gunther-Brown looks at the sorrows and accomplishments of the world we've created, as well as the beauty and natural order of all life. She has the sense and assurance as an artist to express those feelings.

Gunther-Browns' work lives generally on the "edge of reality" somewhere between representation and expressive abstraction.

Background

Donna studied painting at several universities and art institutions earning a BFA from American University in Washington, DC with graduate study at the Maryland Institute of Art in Baltimore MD.

She attended the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture (Madison, ME) in 1967 studying under noted artists Jacob Lawrence, Philip Pearlstein and Alex Katz.

Donna has exhibited artwork in galleries and museums throughout the country.
